Summer Electric Bills

The weather has been unusually hot this summer, which may result in your electric bills to rise relative to previous summers. Your solar works based on how many daylight hours there are, not in response to how much energy you use. So even if the solar is producing the same amount of electricity as previous years, your electric bills will be higher this summer because you are using more electricity to cool your house. Add the fact that everyone is spending more time at home this year and it increases electricity usage even more. 

Your solar is still offsetting electricity at the same rate it has in years past, but the amount of electricity you use may have increased temporarily, causing higher electric bills relative to what the solar offsets. You are not alone if your instinct is to assume the solar is not working properly, but it is likely that your increased power consumption due to the weather has caused the spike in your bill.
